(Cal.), M.D. (Munich), Ind., (West Bengal-DarjeeIing-1967):  d. of late Shri Sasibhusan Bose; b. at Giridih (Bihar), October 7, 1905; ed. at Medical College of Bengal (Calcutta University) and the University of Munich; m. late Dr. Swadesh Basu, August 29, 1937; Medical Practitioner (not in active practice since the Quit India Movement); associated with the Indian National Congress, 1942—67; connected with the All India Trade Union Congress, 1943—47; Joined the Indian National Trade Union Congress in 1948; President, (1) Bengal Branch Of the Indian National Trade Union Congress, 1955— 62; (2) Indian National Trade Union Congress, 1962-63 (at present its Vice-President); Hony. General Secretary, 'Save the Children Committee (India)' since 1944; looking after six hundred orphans in seven welfare homes; Convener and Hony. Gen. Secretary, Rural Ambulance Service and Hospital for women and children near Calcutta; attended the I.L.O. Committee, Geneva (1949), I.L.O. Conference, Geneva, (1951), I.C.F.T.U. Conference, London (1949), Milan (1951), I.C.F.T.U. Committee, Vienna and Munich (1963) and the Anti-Atom Bomb Conference, Hiroshima and Nagasaki (1964); Member, West Bengal Legislative Assembly, 1954—67.

Special interests:  Archaeology, architecture and comparative philology.

Publications:  'Written articles and booklets on Trade Union matters and medical subjects like infant feeding, childrens' diseases, etc.

Travels abroad:  Germany, Switzerland, U.K., Italy, Austria, France and Japan.
